Tools to Thrive
Winter retreat for young adults
Thrive empowers young adult burn survivors aged 18 to 25, preparing them with the knowledge and tools necessary to help navigate the demands of adulthood as burn survivors.
For many survivors, the five-day winter retreat is the next step once graduating from Burn Camp and helps with the transition to adulthood. Programming focuses on team building, life skills and connecting with the burn survivor community. Hosted at the Big White Ski Resort in Kelowna, BC, Thrive welcomes up to 15 participants each year.
Program Information
January 9 – 13, 2025
Thrive will be held at Big White Ski Resort in Kelowna from January 9-13, 2025. Participants arrive at Big White on Thursday afternoon for a welcome dinner and mountain tour.
Burn survivors and counsellors stay together in lodges for a full weekend of activities and sessions in a beautiful mountain setting. Counsellors are made up of fire fighters, therapists and burn survivors all of whom donate their time to planning and running Thrive each year.
