Thrive Retreat For Young Adults Returns

by

A winter retreat for young adult burn survivors. Every January, Thrive welcomes a group of adult survivors aged 18 to 25 to Big White Ski Resort. Thrive empowers survivors, preparing them with the knowledge and tools necessary to help navigate the demands of adulthood as burn survivors. For many, Thrive is the next step once graduating from Burn Camp and helps with the transition to adulthood. Programming focuses on workshops and exercises on team building, life skills lessons, and connecting with the survivor community.

The first annual Thrive retreat was held in January 2016 with ten enthusiastic participants joining counsellors for empowering experiences addressing life and burn injury coping skills. Thrive also provides the opportunity for survivors to connect with friends from Burn Camp, and make new friends, as well as introducing them to new opportunities to stay involved with the Burn Fund’s network of adult burn survivors.
