On December 10, 2017, a group of young hockey players, all members of the Cloverdale Bantam C1 Hockey Team, the Thunder Colts, gave back to their community in a big way. The team hosted a BBQ lunch (by donation) at their local Save On Foods (17745-64 Ave., Surrey), they collected donations in fire fighter boots and hockey skates and helped customers with their groceries. Through these efforts, the team was able to raise an incredible $3400!! This impressive total does not include donations made online during their event, and the team is encouraging the public to make a donation before Friday, December 15th at burnfund.org, as Save On Foods will be making a donation based on all monies raised! If you would like to donate, please reference “Thunder Colts” in the “tribute info” box on the burnfund.org’ “donate now” page, before this Friday, December 15th.
We would like to say a big thank-you to the Thunder Colts, Assistant Coach, Adam Campbell for the hard work, dedication and support he’s provided in organizing this event, and to the Thunder Colts themselves, for their participation and efforts in supporting the Burn Fund. We would also like to thank the Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society for coming out and showing their support and Save On Foods (Cloverdale) for supplying the food for the BBQ and the location. We can not thank you enough for the support you’ve provided to burn survivors across BC and the Yukon, you are truly making a difference in your community and across the province!
