THRIVE Winter Retreat
January 12th to 16th, 2023
The Burn Fund hosts a five-day winter retreat for young adult burn survivors aged 18-25 at Big White Ski Resort.
Thrive empowers young adult burn survivors, preparing them with the knowledge and tools necessary to help navigate the demands of adulthood as burn survivors. For many survivors, Thrive is the next step once graduating from Burn Camp and helps with the transition to adulthood. Programming focuses on workshops and exercises on team building, life skills lessons, and connecting with the survivor community.
Hosted at the Big White Ski Resort in Kelowna, BC, Thrive welcomes between 10 to 16 participants each year. The first annual retreat was held in January 2016 with ten enthusiastic participants joining counsellors for empowering experiences addressing life and burn injury coping skills. Thrive also provides the opportunity for survivors to connect with friends from Burn Camp, and make new friends, as well as introducing them to new opportunities to stay involved with the Burn Fund’s network of adult burn survivors.
