Burn Units
With province-wide donations from fire fighter locals, corporate sponsors and the public, the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund has given over $2 million to the Burn Unit at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) the major burn referral centre in B.C. The Unit bears the name BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn, Plastic and High Acuity Unit in honour of the Burn Fund’s significant contribution and long-term relationship with VGH.
The Children’s Burn Program, which treats B.C.’s most severe paediatric burn cases, is located at B.C. Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. The Burn Fund supports the Children’s Burn Program by funding burn survivor support programs, patient care items and staff training.
Other provincial hospitals receive support in the form of equipment, burn survivor programs, patient care items and staff training.
