2nd Annual Lonsdale Mile Run in support of the Burn Fund
Everyone is invited to participate in the fun family one mile run on Canada Day. Hosted by the North Vancouver City Fire Fighters Local 296.
Date and Time: Tuesday, July 1 at 9:30 am
Where: Start at the North Vancouver City Fire Hall from 13th and St. George's to Mahon Park, North Vancouver
Ages: anyone over 5 years, no pets or strollers
Cost: Adults $20 / Kids 18 & under $15 / Couples $38 / Teams of Five $90
How to Register: Drop off at North Shore Athletics, #101 - 1200 Lonsdale, North Vancouver or fax to 604-990-1113. Race Day registration cash only, until 8:30 am. Please make cheques payable to the North Vancouver City Fire Fighters IAFF Local 296.

UPDATE: July 2, 2008: First place finishers in their category included: Peter Cardle, Kerry Ward, Devin Rajala, Susanne Russell, Rea Blyth, Holly Stewart, Doug Gormican, Phil Crawford, Lisa Briton, Janet MacKintosh, Poyan Danesh, Andrew Hanlon, Tessa Hanlon.
The fastest time at 4:47.8 went to Peter Cardle.

June 14, 2008:
1st Annual Burn Fund 5K Run/Walk
The Running Room is sponsorsing a 5K Run/Walk for the Burn Fund at 9:00 AM on Saturday, June 14 at sixteen locations in Metro Vancouver, the Okanagan and Vancouver Island.
Everyone is invited to participate in this fun event. Entry fee is $10 per person.

Two Marathons - Two Cities - Two Countries in Two Weeks Fundraiser
Bob Hanlon, North Vancouver City Local 296 Fire Fighter is running the 112th Annual Boston Marathon on April 21 and the 37th Annual Vancouver International Marathon on May 4 in support of the Burn Fund. If you would like to pledge your support please contact Bob Hanlon at 778-549-0100 or by email: bhanlon@cnv.org. Donations can be made directly to the Burn Fund at 604-436-5617 or you can drop off at the North Vancouver City Fire Hall at 165 E. 13th Street during business hours. Tax receipts will be issued for donations over $10. All donations go directly to the Burn Fund and its programs.
UPDATE: Bob's official time for the Boston Marathon is 3:24. His official time for the Vancouver International Marathon is 3:29. Congratulations Bob!

After a recent house fire in North Vancouver which destroyed and damaged a extensive wine collection, owners David Scholefield and KJ Kearney wish to thank their family, friends and colleagues who rallied to help them in their time of need. You are invited to taste a collection of wines that survived the fire. The labels may be charred but for the purposes of science must be served! Food and Wine graciously donated by friends and colleagues in the wine industry. Those wishing to contribute are encouraged to bring a bottle, a CD or a book (wine, food, bird) to help David and DJ rebuild their collection.

February 26, 2008:
An Evening of Fire and Ice
Join Kwantlen University College public relations and journalism students for an evening of chilled drinks and warm hearts. Includes hors d'oeuvres, silent auction, live music featuring jazz pianist Laura Smith and guest speakers. Global TV's meterologist Mark Madryga is hosting the event. Silent auction items range from an Absolute Spa gift package to a Vancouver Canucks Henrik Sedin signed T-shirt. The night will also include an oyster bar made possible by the B.C. Shellfish Grower’s Association. Tickets are $30 with all proceeds going to the Burn Fund. Tickets can be purchased by emailing fireandice2008@gmail.com. Venue: False Creek Yacht Club, 1661 Granville Street, Vancouver (Located under the Granville Street Bridge). Doors open at 6:30 pm. Event runs from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

5th Annual Slurp n' Swirl - A Wine & Oyster Celebration
Vancouver's premier champagne and oyster event in support of the BC Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Fund at Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House. The event, most recently voted as one of Canada's "Best secrets and Top Finds" by Travelocity.ca, features a live auction with extravagant prizes, champagne and sparkling wine from around the world, and dancing in our lounge to the sounds of The Adam Woodall Band. You'll also have the opportunity to cheer on North America's best oyster shuckers as they compete for the title of Western Canadian Oyster Shucking Champion.
