President Michael Hurley

Today, the role the British Columbia Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund plays in our community is significantly different than when the Burn Fund began in British Columbia 31 years ago. Our mission has extended far beyond that of our dedication and commitment to burn prevention; as well as survivor support, recovery programs and providing financial assistance for the purchase of equipment, training of medical staff and the operation of a children’s burn survivor camp in BC.

The BCPFF Burn Fund has become much more of a catalyst in creating meaningful programs which support burn and trauma survivors along with new educational tools for the prevention of fires and burns.

While the BCPFF Burn Fund is proud of all of our programs it is equally important to continue to support our core recipients, the BCPFF Burn, Plastic and Trauma Unit and the BCPFF Burn and Trauma Research Lab which are located at Vancouver General Hospital.

The BCPFF Burn Fund and all the BC Professional Fire Fighters are very proud to have the laboratory bear the name “The BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn & Wound Healing Research Laboratory”. We are confident the lab will bring the most significant advances ever achieved in the care of burn and trauma injured patients in BC and will emerge as an important international leader in burn and trauma care.

I am pleased and honoured to be part of the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund and I want to assure you that the BCPFF Burn Fund will continue to do what matters; that is to educate British Columbians about fire and burn safety and prevention and improve the well being of burn and trauma survivors.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, the staff, the hundreds of BC Professional Fire Fighters and the many burn and trauma patients throughout the Province who benefit from the support of our donors; I want to say thank you for your generous contributions. Your help makes it all possible and ensures that the much needed support continues on for the citizens of British Columbia.

Michael Hurley,
President
