Poster Contest


Rules and Prize Information

RULES:

  • Posters must Posters must be drawn on an 8 ½ by 11 inch letter-sized paper.
  • Poster artwork may be drawn on any Burn Awareness subject. 
  • The contest is open to any student residing in British Columbia -- from kindergarten through to grade seven.  Students can participate on their own without the participation of their school.
  • Posters must include the child’s name, grade, school & address on the back of the poster.
  • Winning posters are based on age-appropriate skill, and will be judged on message and content.

Judges decisions are final. Judges include Directors of the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund, Health Care Professionals from the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn, Plastic & Trauma Unit at Vancouver General Hospital, BC Children’s Hospital, Burn Awareness Week sponsors, and selected media outlets.

All entries must be postmarked by no later than March 31, 2008

Winners will be notified by mail after April 30, 2008. Prizes will be awarded by May 31, 2008.

Win Prizes For Your School!

Students can enter the BAW Poster contest for an opportunity to win cash for
their school, a pizza party for their class, and a prize for themselves!
Grand Prize Winner: $1,000 / Six Regional Winners: $500 / Runner-Up Winners: $50
All entrants receive a participation prize so everyone wins!

PRIZES:
Prizes are awarded to fifty students in five areas throughout the province of British Columbia.  The areas include: Lower Mainland (three prizes), Vancouver Island, Kootenays, Northern BC and the Okanagan.  One of the seven regional grand prize winners will be chosen as the BC Grand Prize Winner.  All posters will be displayed on the Burn Fund’s website, www.burnfund.org, for one year.

BC Grand Prize Winner will receive $1,000 for their elementary school or BC Ministry of Education sanctioned distance education facility, a pizza party for their class and a Dalmatian  toy for themselves. The winner’s poster will be highlighted in the Burn Fund Link newsletter and used in promotional material where appropriate.  The winner will receive a  Burn Fund  T-shirt and a Burn Fund recognition plaque to recognize their contribution to burn awareness.

Regional Grand Prize Winners will receive $500 for their elementary school or BC Ministry of Education sanctioned distance education facility, a pizza party for their class, and a Dalmatian toy for themselves and a framed Burn Awareness Week certificate.
Runner-Up Winners will receive $50 for their elementary school or BC Ministry of Education sanctioned   distance education facility, and a Dalmatian toy for themselves.

All Entrants will receive a participation prize which will be sent to their school and handed-out by teachers of participating classes.
